The Professional Program

Our Professional Programme 2011 was entitled “Best Practice – New Ideas” and delved into the challenges of digitisation, the relevance of rights and licenses, as well as upcoming market opportunities. Approx. 10 compact seminars met exhibitors’ and trade visitors’ need to use the Book Fair as a place to further their education. There were opportunities for diversified networking at Business Breakfasts dealing with the book markets in Mexico and China, as well as a session on the effect that the upheavals in the Arab World have had on the book industry.
Almost 1,000 participants took part in the programme. It was developed in cooperation with mediacampus frankfurt ׀ die schulen des deutschen buchhandels, and was directed at booksellers, publishers and authors.

A Perfect Start The "First Timer Seminar" was the ideal starting point for all first-time participants and everyone who wants to make their Frankfurt Book Fair visit a success! In this hands-on tutorial, you learned about the publishing business and found out about the various possibilities offered by the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Business Breakfasts

The much-liked business breakfasts took place again in 2011. Alongside the breakfast, the participants received information, statistics and other useful insights into some of the world's exciting book markets. This year we looked at the Arab world during its period of revolutionary upheavals, we found out the best ways of conquering the Chinese market and we gave an insight into the Mexican book market.

This seminar provided an introduction to rights selling for junior rights staff and other staff. The seminar took account of rights possibilities for trade, educational and academic publishing.
